about catoura
A University of Florida graduate, Catoura East, saw a need for offering services that advocate and educate for holistic wellness for clients and practitioners compared to the current climate of pills and procedures. Working in retirement healthcare since 2005, as a trained Recreational Therapist, her modality has always been about natural non-pharmacological approaches. In 2018 her spiritual journey led her to incorporating meditation, affirmations, re-programming the subconscious mind through visualization, sound bowls, Reiki and other eastern practices to live a life of "BEing". She saw a big need for this approach to help heal mind, body and spirit of others and began to introduce these elements to family, friends and co-workers. She is still learning a lot but enjoying the discovery aspect of this journey.
When choosing a company name Catoura wanted to incorporate a word that in her 15 plus years of healthcare that peers, families & staff would consistently use to describe her, thus Ethos Lifecare Solutions was born.
Ethos \ ˈē-ˌthäs \: The distinguishing character, sentiment, moral nature, or guiding beliefs of a person, group, or institution.
Synonyms: Ethics, morality, morals, principles, standards.
Her diverse background as a healthcare executive is very unique and attributes to her understanding of comprehensive care. She has experience as a Certified Recreational Therapist, Memory Care Director, Assisted Living Administrator, Activities Director and served as Associate Executive Director of a 523+ bed Independent, Assisted Living and Memory Care senior care facility. Over the years she has been sent to assist challenged facilities complete Mock State Surveys, Quality Assurance auditing related to clinical care and documentation, and fill open positions temporarily. She has also served as a consultant to help create policies and educational material for national companies.
As a Core trained Administrator, prior Memory Care Director, State of Florida Alzheimer and Dementia Trainer, prior Alzheimer's support group facilitator for the Alzheimer's Associations she is not only passionate, but offers practical knowledge and support for Dementia care. In December of 2018 she completed the requirements to be a Professional Guardian. This varied experience gave her the skills to manifest a company that offers Care Management, Guardianship, staff training and consulting services.
Currently she is studying to complete her practical nursing boards so she can add the 3 letters L-P-N to her last name! Because of her experience she feels she understands how to support all aspects of well-BEing while working collaboratively with the client, family, facility and interdisciplinary team. Catoura truly appreciates and embraces cultural diversity and believes in the importance of preserving and being prideful on ones heritage. She is passionate about making people feel comfortable in their differences because only in being your truest self can one be their highest self. This mantra of hers shows in Catoura's relateability to others when she is teaching, consulting or managing care.
When she isn't working, she enjoys volunteer work with various organizations in Pinellas County, cooking, learning about various cultures, comedy shows, continuing to develop her Reiki skills and engaged in any other spiritual/holistic activities, anything in nature, DIY projects, traveling, time with her family, friends and "Dog-ters", Ava and Sage (who she thinks are the funniest beings of all to hang out with).
